The Garden of Joy will become a 4-H club, a national/internationally known and respected children's organization, beginning in January '08. Children can join at absolutely no charge.
THE GARDEN OF JOY announces the opening of its FARMERS MARKET, featuring fresh, organic fruits, vegetables, herbs, spices, eggs, fresh baked breads, biscotti and other treats, authentic JAMAICAN BLUE MOUNTAIN COFFEE directly from the mountains of Mavis Bank, potted plants, and special features each month!
Thursday Night Movies will start at 8:30pm.

It is truly a pleasure to witness the effect the Garden of Joy project is having on our youth program participants. Ms. Pat Betty and assistants have totally engaged the children in the process (from planting to harvest). Gardening has long been a favored activity of the elder residents of Dewitt Avenue, but to see the childrens' excitement is heart warming.
The Garden of Joy Project has been instrumental in process of the positive transformation of this community by demonstrating possibilities. Our children have claimed ownership of "their garden" and have committed their Saturdays and some evenings to accomplish the work once considered unlikely with enthusiasm. The once empty weed clogged lot has become a bright spot in neighborhood plagued by the myth of limited potential.
Thank you, Ms. Betty and friends for the Garden of Joy. Your work is Blossoming Lives as Well!

"I am absolutely thrilled at the effort and results of
the Garden of
Joy
program. What a gift to our inner city children -- to
be able to learn to
plant, tend and help something grow."
